The High Tatras are the best tourist destination in Slovakia. So called “the smallest big mountains in the world” have the highest peak of the Carpathian Mountains named Gerlachovsky Peak with altitude 2654 m above the sea level. You can discover and visit them all the year round.

Summer holidays is the best time for hiking and trekking. During the winter time skiers can enjoy skiing in the ski resorts Tatranska LomnicaLomnicke sedlo, Hrebienok, Strbske Pleso. Skilled tourists say the nicest time in High Tatras is autumn time, when the mountains are full of colours and there are not so many tourist there.

National Parks

Tatra National Park (TANAP) – includes High Tatras, West Tatras and Belianske Tatras, on the Polish side it is Tatrzanski park Narodowy. The cableway lift to Lomnický Peak had it the time when it was built the highest superelevation in the world.

Low Tatra National Park (NAPANT) – Kralova hola (25 km).

National Park Pieniny (PIENAP) – rafting along the river Dunajec using wooden rafts, tourist hike to the highest dominant of on Polish side of Pieniny called Trzy Koruny, national monument Červený Kláštor (45km).

National Park Slovak Paradise – robust and long ravines, deep forests, Hornad canyon, the wall Tomasovsky View (30km).

Skiing – Snow Resorts

Tatranska Lomnica – ski resort in higher altitude in Slovakia (2000 m above the see level) Lomnicke Sedlo, also Skalnate Pleso, Cucoriedky, Start and Jamy (0km).

Stary Smokovec – Hrebienok – (6km).

Ski Bachledova have been built by joining of the ski resorts Bachledova dolina, Jezersko and Deny (20km).

Strbske Pleso – Solisko – well known ski center (25km).

Cross Country Skiing – perfect and daily prepared cross country skiing tracks for classic and skate skiing start in Tatranska Kotlina and go till the Strbske Pleso, and professionally prepared cross country track is located very close to the apartments. It’s enought to wear the ski and start skiing.

World Heritage UNESCO

  • Spis Castle (the biggest castle complex in the middle Europe) including catholic monuments Spisská Kapitula and Church in Zehra.
  • Dobsina Ice Cave in National Park Slovensky Raj.
  • Village Vlkolinec (nowadays integral part of Ruzomberok town) with 45 old-style buildings.
  • Middle-age King towns Bardejov and Banska Stiavnica.
  • Krakov and his historical center, the salt mine Wieliczka.
  • Additional localities worth to see are middle-age towns Levoca (the highest gothic altar in the world made by Mr. majstra Pavol from Levoca is 18.6 m high), Kezmarok (the town with the biggest school library in Europe located in the Thököly castle), Podolínec and Spišská Sobota, the castles (Stara Lubovna, Strazky, Betlanovce, Markusovce).

Other destinations

All the year round opened aqua park Aqua City Poprad (15km), summer thermal swimming pool Vrbov (15km), 2 golf courses with 9 and 27 holes (4 km), equitation, bobsled, hypermarket Tesco (nonstop).
